Press release: “EMs are part of Hong Kong’s family”, said Mrs. Carrie Lam at today’s lunch

At lunch today at the home of the Chief Secretary, Shalini Mahtani, Founder of The Zubin Foundation together with fifteen candidates from Diversity List 2016 met with top government officials. They included Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary, Mr. Nicholas Yang, Secretary of Innovation and Technology, Mr. Lau Kong-wah, Secretary for Home Affairs and Mr. Matthew Cheung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare.

“This government has recognised that ethnic minorities are an important part of Hong Kong and can bring critical skills and thinking to its committees” said Mahtani. Five new appointments to HKSARG advisory committees since March 2016 have gone to members of The Zubin Foundation’s Diversity List.

Today’s lunch was a closed door discussion and The Zubin Foundation looks forward to further collaboration with the HKSARG. Ethnic minorities have had a long history in Hong Kong dating back to 1843 and many define themselves as Hong Kong people.

The next Diversity List will be released on 21 March 2017.
