At The Zubin Foundation, we turn understanding into action.

Through training, research collaboration, and practical resources, we equip organisations, institutions, and the wider community with the knowledge and tools needed to build a more inclusive Hong Kong. Drawing on a decade of frontline experience, our work bridges research, lived experience, and practice — ensuring inclusion efforts are practical, credible, and impactful in the following ways:

  • Cultural competency training, safeguarding, SEN awareness, status of the ethnically diverse communities, multi-culturalism, microaggression, unconscious bias, anti-racism and inclusive practice

  • Academic partnerships, interviews, subject matter expertise, and evidence‑informed learning

  • Guides, toolkits, reports, and community‑informed resources that translate lived experience into action developed by The Zubin Foundation, ranging from mental health, women and girls in crisis, forced marriage, special educational needs, to scholarships directory.

Why This Matters Now

In Hong Kong, significant gaps remain that challenge our collective commitment to inclusion. Research shows that individuals with darker skin tones often experience lower levels of acceptance, revealing the often unseen struggles faced by ethnically diverse communities, particularly women, girls, and children with special educational needs. While many people may believe they are not racist, everyday microaggressions can still create powerful feelings of exclusion.

In a city where 92% of the population is Chinese, meaningful change requires the majority to lead with openness, empathy, and responsibility. By strengthening cultural competency and deepening understanding, we can build a more inclusive society where everyone feels respected and empowered to thrive. Beyond training and capacity‑building, we invite individuals, institutions, and organisations to engage with us through research collaboration, partnering to generate evidence, elevate lived experiences, and inform more inclusive policies and practices. Together, through learning, research, and shared action, we can create lasting and meaningful change. Know more about our research collaboration >>

Drawing on a decade of frontline experience and community‑led insights, we have produced a wide range of resources on topics such as cultural competency, mental health, special educational needs children, forced marriage, and climate of ethnically diverse communities in Hong Kong. These resources are designed to translate lived experience and evidence into practical guidance for organisations, professionals, educators, and the general public. As a subject matter expert in ethnically diverse inclusion in Hong Kong, we welcome opportunities for others to learn from, collaborate with, and build on this work, whether through training, research partnerships, interviews, or the use of our resources to inform policy, practice, and service design.
