The Zubin Foundation is pleased to announce the following scholarships:

Guv-Zubin Ethnic Minority Full Tuition Scholarship for 4 years

 

There is only one of these scholarships for 2020/2021 academic year:

This scholarship covers the tuition for 4 years for any ethnic minority who is starting a 4-year undergraduate degree (Bachelor's degree) programme at any of the eight UGC-funded universities.  The scholarship is mostly based on financial need (see below Scoring of Applications). This scholarship is named after two ethnic minority males, Guv Dillon and Zubin Mahtani Gidumal who have tragically passed away.

 

What is a UGC-funded university?

There are 8 UGC funded universities and they are:

  1. City University of Hong Kong (CityU)

  2. Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU)

  3. Lingnan University (LU)

  4. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

  5. The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)

  6. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)

  7. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)

  8. The University of Hong Kong (HKU)

 

What will the scholarship cover?

  • Full tuition fees for 4 years to be paid directly to the university.

  • The tuition for the next academic year is of course contingent upon the scholarship recipient satisfactorily meeting his/her responsibilities (see below ‘What are the responsibilities of the recipient?’).

  • Mentoring 4 times a year.

  • Assistance with summer internships to build up work experience.

 

What are the responsibilities of the recipient?

  • Submit academic grades each semester to The Zubin Foundation no more than 2 weeks after its receipt by the recipient.

  • Yearly letter of what has most shaped you over the past academic year, one week after the end of the academic year.

  • 4 meetings with your mentor, assigned to you by The Zubin Foundation.

  • Speak at least at 2 events each year, dates to be agreed with The Zubin Foundation.

 

Criteria:

  • Any Hong Kong ethnic minority male or female

  • A resident of Hong Kong

  • Must have obtained a written offer of Year 2020/2021 in hand from a UGC-funded university

Application Process:

  • Completed Application Form with all supporting documents (incomplete application and/or supporting documents will not be entertained).

  • Interview with Scholarships Committee.

The Ethnic Minority Women and Girls Scholarship

There are 12 of these scholarships for 2020/2021 academic year.

Each scholarship is valued at HK$20,000 and will be directed towards essential expenses for Year 1 student who will attend any tertiary education institutes of Hong Kong (on the list below) for the academic year 2020/2021. This may cover any degree, associate degree or diploma student.

What will the scholarship cover?

  • HK$20,000 towards tuition, books, a laptop or any other necessary expense to be pre-approved by TZF.

 

What are the responsibilities of the recipient?

  • Undertake 20 hours of Community Service with any HK NGO and obtain a letter from the CEO/ED/Social worker of that organisation to that effect.

  • Year-end letter of what has most shaped you over the past academic year, one week after the end of the academic year.

  • Speak at least at 1 event to be agreed by The Zubin Foundation.

 

Criteria:

  • Any Hong Kong ethnic minority female

  • A resident of Hong Kong

  • Must have obtained a written offer of Year 2020/2021 in hand from a tertiary institute above.

Application Process

  • Completed Application Form with all supporting documents (incomplete application and/or supporting documents will not be entertained).

  • Interview with Scholarships Committee.
