The Red Box

Year 2020 was an incredibly challenging year for many of Hong Kong’s ethnic minorities. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc through layoffs in airport-related jobs, construction and catering - where most of these ethnic minorities work. It is already known that the ethnic minority community is one of the poorest in Hong Kong, with one in four living in poverty. Most are Nepali, Pakistani and Indian. Due to this pandemic and economic recession more youth are being asked to stop their further studies and try to find work to help support their families.

In last year itself, The Zubin Foundation helped over 10,000 individuals in different ways. It was observed that women and girls are amongst the worst affected.

Can you help?

In our survey last year, 65% of our ethnic minorities girls said that if they received free sanitary products, the financial “burden” on their family would lessen. The Red Box Project is aiming to do just that by addressing Period Poverty! It will help girls to stay in school – the project finances them to receive free menstruation supplies from LUÜNA.

HK$100 per month covers ONE RED BOX filled with organic sanitary products from LUÜNA PLUS physical and mental health training. We typically cover each girl for 4 months so donations for a minimum of 4 months are greatly appreciated (HK$400).

Any donation over HK$100 will receive a tax exempt donation receipt by email.
